Nepal Visa Information

Planning a trip to Nepal? Getting a visa is simple and can be done on arrival or in advance through a Nepalese embassy or consulate. Here’s what you need to know about visa options, requirements, fees, and the application process for a hassle-free entry.

Visa Options

You can obtain a Nepal visa either on arrival or in advance:

  1. On Arrival

    • Available at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.

    • Available at designated Nepal-India border crossings, including Birganj, Bhairahawa, Nepalgunj, and Gadda Chowki, as well as Nepal-China border points like Kodari, Rasuwagadhi (Rasuwa), and Hilsa (Humla district).

  2. In Advance

    • Apply at your nearest Nepalese Embassy or Consulate in your home country.

    • Renewal or visa services are also offered at the Department of Immigration, Kalikasthan, Kathmandu.

Visa Requirements

  • A valid passport.

  • One passport-sized photo with a light background (no specific size required).

  • Visa fees must be paid in cash, in Nepalese currency.

Tourist Visa Process

  • Tourist visas are issued upon arrival at TIA within the Nepal Immigration Office.

  • You can either:

    • Fill out the online visa application form (upload your photo, print it, and bring it with you), or

    • Complete a paper form at the airport, submit it with your passport-sized photo, and receive the visa. Processing usually takes 10–15 minutes, but it may take longer during peak times.

  • Visa Fee: USD 50 for a 30-day multiple-entry tourist visa.
